Pros: Build quality, resolution, picture quality, fast 12x zoom with optical stabilization
Cons: Price, 4 AA batteries, flimsy lens cap, slow flash recycle, no RAW, control layout
The Bottom Line: The Canon PowerShot S3 IS is an excellent choice if you need a camera with 12x optical zoom and optical image stabilization. But you can save...

Pros: Very sharp images obtained; close-up or distant, CANON's S3 delivers every time.
Cons: Awkward Menu layout explanation in User Manual
The Bottom Line: CANON has another winner in a series of 3 excellent Digital Cameras. The S3 IS can satisfy the most demanding pro to the novice. I really like mine.

Pros: 12x zoom, Image stabilizer, Full manual mode, good battery life
Cons: Can't autofocus in dark, noisy ISO 800, no 9-point autofocus
The Bottom Line: If you want an excellent camera but aren't quite ready for the dive into dSLR land with expensive lenses, this is the camera for you.

Pros: 6.0 Mega pixels, image stabilization, 12x optical zoom, very good image quality, super macro.
Cons: Small LCD screen, lens cap falls of too easily.
The Bottom Line: This is a really good camera. Maybe you can get some cheaper, but this camera is well worth its cost. It's easy to use and produces very good quality photos.

Pros: Compact for capability, excellent zoom, internal stabilizer, very user-friendly.
Cons: The pop-off lens cap. But, one can even live with that.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend the Canon S3. It's an incredible buy for the price and has the backing of a quality manufacturer. It's very versatile, yet easily portable.

Pros: fun to use, no delay, great pictures, great zoom
Cons: A little heavy. I wish the lens cover locked in.
The Bottom Line: if your credit card sized camera is disappointing you (shutter lag, zoom, slow to write to memory) then this is the answer.
